Dear
Friends,
Thank you in advance for your generous support
– it means so much!
The opening of our Rotary Centennial
Nature Center in May 2007
has enabled us to commence our plan of offering a broad range of nature
programs focusing on different topics such as Florida native
plants,
animals, birds, barrier island ecology, and natural resources
management
and stewardship.
With your help we can expand our ability to
educate, entertain and
enlighten visitors in regards to preservation of these marvelous, rare
and delicate barrier islands for generations to come!
It's all about creating connections – to
nature, to our neighborhoods,
to our community.
So, we invite you to come “Celebrate EarthDays
with Friends” and
establish a connection with us and with your environment.
Regards from the Islands,
Ray Dabkowski, President
Friends of the Island Parks, Inc.

Volunteers Get
Involved
Celebrate the
Islands
Honeymoon
and Caladesi Islands are rare, natural barrier islands that are
basically
undeveloped. Visitors have the opportunity to enjoy a taste of
Florida's
original coast, to see many types of wildlife that depend on these
ecosystems
and to learn about this environment that needs to be protected.
From
the ospreys that make the island their year long home to the loggerhead
turtles that lay eggs on the beaches, the egrets wading in the shore
grasses
and the manatees and dolphins that swim in the surrounding waters, we
can
all get to celebrate this natural environment.
Celebrate with
Friends
Only
a few years ago the concept of a nature center at Honeymoon Island
State
Park was just a dream. Now it is a reality, open all year to visitors
from
near and afar to help us “celebrate” this great natural resource with a
much wider audience.
Celebrate Island
EarthDays
We
ask you to continue this celebration with your support of "Island
EarthDays".
This event draws Tampa Bay residents and visitors alike,
providing
a fun filled learning experience for both children and adults. "Island
EarthDays" offers a wide variety of environmental exhibits, craft
vendors,
great food, kayak competitions, island eco tours, music and
entertainment.
"Island EarthDays" will showcase the rich natural resources these
islands
provide and show each of us how we can help preserve and enhance our
natural
heritage.
